We all need friends. Yet even in the highly populated areas, loneliness is still a sad feature of the lives of many. Friends play an important role in our life and although we may take the fact of friendship for granted, we often don’t clearly understand how friendships are formed. Every day we mix with hundreds of people, get on well with some of them and make friends with only a few. Some people have lots of friends, others are very reluctant to make new friends. There are people who are very easy to get on with, and there are people whose friendships never last very long.

In my opinion a real friend is a person whom you trust and respect, who is «a friend in need» and who never lets you down. There are no rules of how to make friends. Usually friendship between people grows when they have common views and judgements on things and events, have common interests and ambitions. A real friend should treat me with understanding, sympathy and compassion, exactly the way he wants to be treated by me.

In general I have a very wide circle of friends, most of whom are girls. But only two or three of them are really dear to me and I hope I am to them too. My best friend is Victoria. We have known each other since we were 1 year students. But our friendship really started when we got together at my friend’s place one day and talked about different things. I felt that she was a similar soul. We’ve been close friends since then.

Here I should say that Victoria is exceptionally pretty. She is about 180 cm tall with dark hair and blue eyes. She has got a long hair, sometimes she ties it in a knot. She has a straight nose and her pleasant smile makes her really attractive.

She is an energetic girl, good at sports, especially at volleyball and swimming. She is also fond of painting and some of her pictures are really good. She lives not far from my place, so we spend a lot of time together after school and on weekends.

She never speaks badly of other people and finds more positive than negative features in every person. I admire her for that.

I can’t say she is a top student in her class but she is capable, intelligent and well-read. She is good at science, while I’ve always been better at humanities. She is going to enter the physics department of the Minsk pedagogical university. I hope she will do well at the examinations and make a good student afterwards.

Of course, we quarrel from time to time and fight over small things, but we make up our quarrels in no time. We can’t stay angry with each other for more than a day.

She is a hot-tempered person and at times she tends to act a little impulsively. She easily loses self-control when things don’t go well or the way she wants them to go. This is the feature which I don’t find attractive, but I know that there are bad things even in the best of us and I have to put up with it. In genera! she has a charming personality, she is sociable, frank and honest.

She is reliable and never lets you down. I can trust her as much as I do myself. She never fails to help or share your sorrows. These are the qualities I like about her most of all.

Друзья играют важную роль в нашей жизни, и хотя мы можем воспринимать дружбу как должное, мы часто не понимаем, как формируются дружеские отношения. Каждый день мы общаемся с сотнями людей, хорошо ладим с некоторыми из них и подружимся лишь с некоторыми. У некоторых людей много друзей, другие очень не хотят заводить новых друзей. Есть люди, с которыми очень легко ладить, а есть люди, дружба которых никогда не бывает долгой.

На мой взгляд, настоящий друг — это человек, которому вы доверяете и уважаете, который является «другом в нужде» и никогда не подведет. Нет никаких правил, как подружиться. Обычно дружба между людьми растет, когда у них есть общие взгляды и суждения о вещах и событиях, есть общие интересы и амбиции. Настоящий друг должен относиться ко мне с пониманием, сочувствием и состраданием, именно так, как он хочет, чтобы я относился ко мне.

Вообще у меня очень широкий круг друзей, большинство из которых девушки. Но только двое или трое из них действительно дороги мне, и я надеюсь, что я им тоже. Моя лучшая подруга — Виктория. Мы знаем друг друга с первого курса. Но наша дружба по-настоящему началась, когда однажды мы собрались у моего друга и поговорили о разных вещах. Я чувствовал, что мы родственные души. С тех пор мы стали близкими друзьями.

Здесь я должен сказать, что Виктория исключительно красива. Рост около 180 см, темные волосы и голубые глаза. У нее длинные волосы, иногда она завязывает их в узел. У нее прямой нос, а приятная улыбка делает ее по-настоящему привлекательной.

Она энергичная девушка, хорошо разбирается в спорте, особенно в волейболе и плавании. Еще она любит рисовать, и некоторые из ее картин действительно хороши. Она живет недалеко от меня, поэтому мы много времени проводим вместе после школы и по выходным.

Она никогда не говорит плохо о других людях и находит в каждом человеке больше положительных, чем отрицательных черт. Я восхищаюсь ею за это.

Я не могу сказать, что она лучшая ученица в своем классе, но она способная, умная и начитанная. Она хорошо разбирается в науках, а я всегда лучше разбирался в гуманитарных науках. Она собирается поступать на физический факультет Минского педагогического университета. Я надеюсь, что она хорошо сдаст экзамены и потом станет хорошей ученицей.

Конечно, мы время от времени ссоримся и ссоримся из-за мелочей, но мы быстро улаживаем ссоры. Мы не можем злиться друг на друга больше суток.

Она вспыльчивый человек и временами ведет себя импульсивно. Она легко теряет самообладание, когда дела идут не так, как она хочет. Это черта, которую я не считаю привлекательной, но я знаю, что даже в лучших из нас есть недостатки, и мне приходится с этим мириться. В общем! у нее обаятельный характер, она общительна, откровенна и честна.

Она надежна и никогда не подведет. Я могу доверять ей так же сильно, как и себе. Она никогда не перестает помогать и разделять ваши печали. Это те качества, которые мне в ней нравятся больше всего.

Подсчет слов в сочинении: как уложиться в норму?

В задании по написанию эссе на английском есть оговорка: сочинение должно быть в объеме не менее 200-250 слов.

Допустимо отклонение в 10%. То есть если в эссе будет 180 слов, работа не будет засчитана, и учащийся получит 0 баллов даже за безупречно написанное эссе.

Подсчет слов – это первое, что делает проверяющий. Он даже не прочтет работу, если на листе меньше положенного.

Если же эссе написано больше положенного, проверяющий проверит только ту часть, которая подпадает под требования – то есть первые 250 слов. Остальную часть работы он не будет принимать во внимание. Поэтому нужно стараться раскрыть тему именно в рамках указанного числа слов.

Что нужно знать при подсчете слов:

1. Считают все слова, в том числе и вспомогательные глаголы.
2. Сокращенные формы глаголов (например, didn’t, doesn’t, I’m) считают одним словом.
3. Цифры приравниваются к словам, одна цифра – одно слово. Числительное в буквенной форме из нескольких слов будут считать как несколько слов.
4. Сложносочиненное слово через дефис (например, good-looking, English-speaking, twenty-five) считают как одно слово.
5. Сокращения и аббревиатура идут как одно слово.
